Hamilton city buses, GO Transit will offer free rides on New Year’s Eve

Hamilton is bringing back its annual initiative to help locals get home safely after partying it up on New Year’s Eve.

On Saturday, December 31st, the Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) will be offering free service on all local routes that currently have Saturday evening service.

The free service will begin after 6 pm that evening, and routes will also feature special extended bus schedules, with final departures for many of these routes occurring around 2:30 am on January 1st to help those who spent the night out enjoying New Year’s Eve celebrations get home safely.

The only routes that will not be seeing extended or modified service for New Year’s Eve include the 7 Locke, 8 York, 10 B Line Express, 12 Wentworth, 16 Ancaster, 18 Waterdown Mountaineer, 51 University, and 52A Dundas Local routes.

If you’re ringing in the New Year outside of Hamilton, GO Transit is also offering free extended transit service, with the free rides beginning at 7 pm on December 31st and ending at 3:30 am on January 1st.
