Just homemade, honest-to-goodness food.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Trevor\u00a0Hunt\u00a0has been in the\u00a0culinary\u00a0industry for over 20 years. Starting out\u00a0in\u00a0kitchens across Hamilton,\u00a0and working\u00a0for industry leaders\u00a0like Carmen\u2019s\u00a0Group, Trevor has assisted with opening several\u00a0restaurants.\u00a0He\u2019s familiar with\u00a0the ins and outs of the biz, and knows how much\u00a0hard work and dedication\u00a0is required\u00a0to go into\u00a0the\u00a0opening\u00a0of\u00a0a restaurant. His passion for the\u00a0restaurant\u00a0industry is what led him to open up the latest joint on the scene in Hamilton, the fizz Sodas and Sandwiches.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The inspiration came to him\u00a0a few Christmases ago, when Trevor received a\u00a0sodastream\u00a0as a Holiday gift. The new\u00a0gizmo motivated\u00a0him to try out\u00a0a variety of\u00a0homemade soda recipes that ended up being so delicious, he felt he could base a business entirely around them. But of course, you can\u2019t keep a business afloat on sodas alone, which is where their large\u00a0smoked\u00a0sandwiches and\u00a0hearty sides come in.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A few years down the road from\u00a0receiving\u00a0that\u00a0inspiring\u00a0Christmas\u00a0gift,\u00a0Trevor and his wife Amanda, have now opened up shop in their hometown of Hamilton.\u00a0The pair\u00a0knew they were looking for a space in an urban setting with\u00a0lots of walking traffic. That search for the perfect spot led them to\u00a0a location\u00a0in the Hamilton International Village\u00a0right on the main stretch of King Street.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a simple restaurant, with a bar where you can order take-out or food to eat-in and see your food\u00a0(and sodas!)\u00a0being prepared\u00a0right in front of your eyes. That\u2019s how Trevor aims to run every aspect of the fizz restaurant; simplicity, perfected.\u00a0Just homemade, honest-to-goodness food.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Trevor had always had a love of BBQ, and now that\u00a0he has opened this little eatery, he\u2019s able to experiment more with the food he loves.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hamilton-themed\u00a0sandwiches \u2013 like\u00a0The Steelmaker, The Hammer, or The Tailgate Special\u00a0sandwich\u00a0\u2013 feature\u00a0smoked meats (electric smoked\u00a0with 100%\u00a0Hickory Wood\u00a0in-house), loaded with toppings with a\u00a0Southwest\u00a0flair, grace their menu. Trevor\u00a0recognizes\u00a0the need to prepare food that everyone will enjoy, so he also offers a few vegetarian and gluten-free options.\u00a0Vegetarian options include their spin on a Grilled Cheese\u00a0with Tomato and Onion, or a Smoked Vegetable Sandwich with Goat Cheese.\u00a0For those who are carb-conscious, any of the meats and toppings are available on\u00a0a salad base\u00a0for\u00a0a healthy spin on the dishes!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Keeping those sandwiches company\u00a0are\u00a0made-in-house sides\u00a0that will remind you of the picnics of your childhood,\u00a0like:\u00a0Creamy Potato & Bacon Salad, Chipotle\u00a0Cole Slaw and Mixed Bean Salad.\u00a0Sticking to the Southwest theme, they also offer Sweet Tea and Lemonade \u2013\u00a0though they\u00a0completely\u00a0understand if you want to go with one of\u00a0their crowd-pleasing\u00a0Sodas.\u00a0After all, how can you go into a soda shop and leave without a soda, especially when the flavours are this good?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the moment, their\u00a0handmade\u00a0sodas are primarily fruit-based. Nothing they use\u00a0in the restaurant\u00a0is processed, since it\u2019s all made in-house with no artificial ingredients. Eventually,\u00a0the fizz will\u00a0be experimenting with Root Beer and Colas, but Trevor is a strong believer that it\u2019s all\u00a0about\u00a0slow-growth and\u00a0perfecting what they currently offer. Serving up Soda flavours like Strawberry Basil, Blueberry Mint, Ginger Ale or Orange Vanilla, their syrups are all made by the fizz team using fruit, herbs, sugar and water. No aspartame or hard-to-read ingredients found here!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Trevor and Amanda\u00a0plan to use local producers and Ontario ingredients when possible, utilizing what\u2019s fresh and in-season in their recipes. The fizz is also primarily sourcing their meat products from the new local supplier, Honest Meat Co., where the meat\u00a0provided\u00a0is raised\u00a0ethically, on pasture.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Though they have been open less than three months, Trevor and Amanda say the reception in Hamilton\u00a0for the fizz\u00a0has been wonderful so far. Hungry Hamiltonians have come in to investigate\u00a0(you can\u2019t miss their bright blue building!)\u00a0and\u00a0left happy, with full bellies. As a restauranteur\u00a0following your passion, what more could you ask for?\u00a0Currently, they\u2019re\u00a0offering food only out of the\u00a0restaurant \u2013 but hope to expand into catering larger orders and\u00a0selling\u00a0their goods at local events.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
