Fisherman’s Pier, located at the entrance to the Hamilton Harbour at the shipping canal, will soon be undergoing a reformation. The Hamilton-Oshawa Port Authority (HOPA) wants help from Hamilton and Burlington residents to help them plan their development plan.

Fisherman’s Pier is located right on the border of Burlington and Hamilton. The site features landmarks such as the Lift Bridge, Historical Lighthouse, Skyway Bridge, Breakwater piers, and the Canadian Center for Inland Waters.

The area used to be a buzzing center for commercial activity, and a popular attraction for those travelling through Hamilton and Burlington.

With the twinning of the QEW in 1985, many of the retail structures were removed and the area has lost a lot of it’s original charm.

HOPA hopes to return this area to its former beauty with improvements to several areas. The project is focused around four main areas: the Breakwater Piers, the Historical Lighthouse, Eastport Park, and an area designated for Future Parkland.
