Dundas shop for musical instruments and gifts closes its doors

A popular and unique Dundas shop known for its handcrafted musical instruments, wood products, clothing, and other ‘earthy’ finds has closed its doors.

Down to Earth Shoppe was a fixture of Downtown Dundas at 22 King Street West for over a decade, standing out for its relaxed vibes, community events, and eclectic range of wares including handmade digeridoos, poplar flutes, drums, and much more.

However, after a meaningful run in the Dundas community, this hidden gem bid farewell officially at the end of May.

“When we first started to grow our roots in Dundas over 11 years ago, we had no idea where it would take us…and what an incredible journey it has been!!” wrote Down to Earth Shoppe in a post on Facebook.

“Filled with new friends, community and growth, both inside and out. Now it’s time to shed our leaves and start to plant the seeds for a new beginning.”

While it’s not yet clear what’s next for Down to Earth, the same can’t be said for its 22 King West storefront, which will soon be taken over by The Urban Vine: another Dundas favourite specializing in small-batch olive oils and vinegars, which will be moving in and leaving its former location at 134 King Street West.
