Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra is doing free outdoor concerts all summer

The acclaimed Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra (HPO) is filling the downtown streets with music this summer.

The HPO Downtown Summer Concert Series is bringing free live music to King William Street between James North and Hughson Street on Wednesday afternoons biweekly all summer long, with different concerts performed outdoors by HPO musicians.

Presented by the City of Hamilton, the next HPO concert – Strings in Summer, performed by the HPO String Quartet – is set for Wednesday, July 10th at 12:15 pm, followed by the HPO Brass Quintet performing Brass Plays Broadway on Wednesday, July 24th at 12:15 pm.

August’s concerts include another Strings in Summer on Wednesday, August 14th at 12:15 pm, with the final summer concert for 2024 being Brass Goes to the Movies, with the HPO Brass Quintet playing iconic songs from film and television on August 28th at 12:15 pm.

The HPO Summer Concert Series isn’t the only free event happening this summer in the downtown core: the Gore Park Summer Promenade is also in full swing all summer long, bringing an array of local musicians to the park at lunch hour on weekdays.
