Hamilton residents who want a little more greenery on their property can currently claim a free tree from the city.
The City of Hamilton is offering up free trees in a variety of native species to Hamilton homeowners so they can plant them on their property to “improve air quality, fight climate change, and increase property value.”

Those interested are eligible to claim one tree per property, with varieties including Kentucky Coffee, Blue Beech, Sugar Maple, Tulip, Eastern White Pine, Service Berry, and Common Hackberry.
A couple of shrubs are also available, including Northern Bush Honeysuckle and American Witch Hazel.
Hamilton residents can pre-register online for one of the scheduled pick-up dates, which include May 25th and June 1st from 9 am to 2 pm at Mohawk College, as well as June 8th and June 15th from 9 am to 2 pm at Bayfront Park.
Homeowners who claim a tree are responsible for planting and maintaining them on their properties.
