If you’re a nervous frequent flier who wouldn’t mind a bit of liquid courage before take-off once in a while, a new bill passed recently in Ontario will make it possible for you to sip an adult alcoholic beverage at any time of day in the province’s commercial airports, including Hamilton’s own John C. Munro International Airport.
The bill, known as the ‘Better For People, Smarter For Business Act’, was officially passed on Tuesday December 10th in Ontario in an effort to streamline and simplify provincial business regulations, including proposed tax cuts for Ontario’s small businesses.

As part of this bill, Ontario’s commercial airports, including Hamilton International Airport, will be able to serve alcoholic beverages to travelers 24 hours a day. Previously, regulations prohibited airports from selling alcohol outside the bounds of 9 am to 2 am daily.
Combined with the Hamilton airport’s recent addition of locally-made food & drink available to inbound and outbound travellers, this means it’ll be possible to enjoy a sweet pint of Collective Arts beer no matter what time of day your plane arrives.
Naturally, this new change to alcohol service regulations in Ontario’s airports also comes with a simple and serious caveat: enjoy responsibly!
