Not only are shoes accepted from people’s homes, but The Local Skateshop is also offering 25 per cent off of shoes bought in their store that are then subsequently donated as part of the shoe drive.
According to an Instagram post, the idea began when the skate shop’s owner was talking to Hamilton Paramedic Services after donating a skateboard. A paramedic expressed the difficulty they had in finding shoes for their program where they help at-risk youths.
The skate shop’s goal is to be able to put 100 pairs of boots and shoes on the feet of at-risk people who would benefit from having a new pairs of shoes.
The Local Skateshop posted on Tuesday and have already had multiple people reach out through comments on Instagram with more than one pair of shoes to donate.
Those looking to help out can visit the store at 101 John Street South with their donations.
