A six-year-old boy is safe after the Ontario Provincial Police found him riding his bike along Highway 403 in Hamilton around 3 pm on Monday.
The OPP received several calls after drivers saw the boy riding his bike shirtless along the shoulder of the notoriously busy highway.
The boy was reportedly trying to get to his mother’s house in Toronto after police tracked him down near the on-ramp from York Boulevard. Police later found out that he had left his grandmother’s house in Hamilton.

OPP Acting Sergeant Daniel Hunter told Global News in a report yesterday that the Hamilton Police were notified that the boy was missing earlier that day.
Police apparently found the boy within seven minutes of being called and he had no reported injuries.
Hunter added that he’s seen people riding their bikes along the highway before, but six years old is way too young to be doing something so dangerous. Though, the Sergeant did say the boy gets bonus points for wearing a helmet.
If drivers see something unusual or dangerous at the side of a highway, they’re encouraged to contact the OPP Highway Safety Division or dial 9-1-1 for an emergency.
