A new board game cafe is opening soon in Hamilton

Steel Castle Games will be opening on Barton Street later this spring, looking to bring something fun to the Hamilton community.

“The owner of the building was looking for something to do in the empty restaurant below the Hamilton School of Martial Arts that would be good for the community and fun to do. He currently has run jujitsu for 30 years,” said forthcoming cafe owner Edward Forde.

The cafe will offer refreshments as well as access to a wide variety of board games for players to enjoy. The cafe owner is currently looking to build partnerships with some large board game suppliers in order to bring a diverse collection of games to future patrons.

“Our goal for the future is to use the building to its full potential. Between the jujitsu space and the board game cafe, we can do things like summer camps this year,” said Forde.

“There is a small banquet hall downstairs that can also be used as a second games spot for booking events, or regular meetings for things such as model painting to games group meetings.”

One unique feature that could make Steel Castle Games stick out from the competition is the potential for board games in the sun. The building has lots of space in the back and, according to Forde, they are looking to set up some outdoor space for players.

“We are currently coming up with ideas to make the cafe different. We have a few ideas but we’re not completely ready to share just yet,” said Forde.

More information on this exciting new addition to Hamilton’s board game scene will arrive closer to the grand opening!
