Carlton Cards and Papyrus stores are closing in Hamilton

Carlton Cards and Papyrus stores are closing all North American retailers including 76 Canadian locations with two stores closing in Hamilton.

Sherman Retail Group CEO Dominique Shurman said that most locations will be closed within the next four to six weeks according to a report on CTV News.

Carlton Cards locations in Hamilton’s own Jackson Square and Eastgate Square are included in the closures and have begun massive store closing sales.

A total of 254 stores, with 178 locations in the U.S., will all close impacting more than 1,400 employees.

Shurman said that the retailers are closing after they were struggling to keep up with the demands of today’s shopping environment.

Although brick-and-mortar locations will be closed in the next few weeks, Carlton Cards and Papyrus cards will continue to he published and available in certain retailers and online.

The closure of these retailers are the latest in a long list of Canadian retailers shutting up shop. Ten Thousand Villages announced they are closing many of their stores including Hamilton’s Locke Street location. All 24 Canadian locations of apparel store Bench will be closing, including the one in Halton Hills. Things Engraved also announced they were closing all locations, including the store in Lime Ridge Mall.
