Friendly wager placed between Hamilton and St. Catherines’ mayor

What’s a little competition amongst friends?

Monday on Twitter, St. Catherines Mayor Walter Sendzik proposed a friendly wager to Hamilton’s own Mayor Fred Eisenberger.

The wager is simple. Whoever’s hometown hockey team comes out victorious in the Ontario Hockey League’s Eastern Conference is to win a dozen donuts and $100 to the charity of the winner’s choosing.

With Mayor Fred Eisenberger accepting, the challenge was set.

As much as we Canadians love our hockey teams, we sure do love our donuts. Fred Eisenberger is throwing down the gauntlet with a dozen donuts from Donut Monster – a Hamilton favourite, serving up from-scratch donuts with artisan flavour profiles.

Mayor Walter Sendzik’s donuts will be coming from Beechwood Donuts – a fresh, handmade vegan delight.

While Mayor Sendzik has not announced his charity of choice, Mayor Eisenberger will be donating to Neighbour to Neighbour if he wins. Neighbour to Neighbour is an anti-poverty organization whose vision is poverty prevention in Hamilton.

The puck drops between the Hamilton Bulldogs and Niagara IceDogs at 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 5th. The game takes place at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton.

Would you prefer donuts from Donut Monster or Beechwood? What would you wager in a friendly bet? Let us know in the comments below.
