One of Hamilton’s favourite small coffee shops and community hubs is one of a number of local small businesses to have been awarded funding that will aid in their digital outreach efforts amid COVID-19.
Steeltown Garage Co., a motorcycle-themed café and local hangout located at the corner of Barton and James North, is notable for the effort they put into their attention-getting social media presence.
Congratulations to #HamOnt small business Steeltown Garage Co. on being successful recipients of the $2,500 Digital Transformation Grant by Digital Main Street 🎉

Now, with $2,500 in grant funding through Digital Main Street’s Digital Transformation Grant Program, Steeltown Garage Co. can even further strengthen that online presence; especially while the COVID-19 pandemic limits the in-person aspects of this and countless other small businesses.
“The DMS grant has allowed us to dig deeper into content creation, both photography and video, to help broaden our reach online and grow our social audience,” said Steeltown Garage Co. about the funding.
This isn’t the first time this year the coffee shop has received this kind of support. A few months ago, Steeltown Garage Co. was one of two Hamilton-based small businesses – and one of just 30 small businesses nationwide – to receive a $5,000 grant from FedEx as aid during the pandemic.
Other local small businesses who want to apply for Digital Main Street’s Digital Transformation Grant Program can do so up until November 30th via their website.
