Hamilton Youth Film Festival this Friday

Hamilton is home to creatives of all ages. Artists, designers, musicians, tinkerers, filmmakers — our city really is a hub for the arts and all their glory. This Friday, come celebrate young filmmakers at this year’s Hamilton Youth Film Festival.
Hamilton Youth Film Festival is the first film festival in the city to showcase work exclusively created by young talent. Whether you’re just starting high school or finishing off your University degree, your work is welcome.
The festival is not only a celebration of students and their work; it’s also run completely by students. The Hamilton Youth Film Festival is a network of youths helping each other out. They care about the creative arts in their community, they want their work to be seen, and they want the work of their peers to be seen.
The films are categorized by seven different genres. If you’re attending the festival, you can count on seeing action, comedy, documentary, drama, horror/sci-fi, and musical films. Some films are so unique and combine a wide variety of genres — those films are put into the category of other.
This year’s film festival will be taking place at the Lincoln Alexander Centre. This state of the art theatre boasts a seating capacity of 360 with great lighting and sound capabilities.
The Hamilton Youth Film Festival runs Friday, April 27th with two different screenings. The matinee show runs between 10 am and 2 pm, while the evening show starts at 7 pm and ends at 9 pm. Tickets are $5 and they’re available online through Bruha.
Come on out and see what the next wave of talented filmmakers have to share. The next Spielberg, Kubrick, or Hughes could be among the filmmakers.
