O’s Clothes on James North is closing

The next in a string of local closures at the top of 2020, an iconic Hamilton brand has surprised the city with news that they’re soon closing their doors as well.
O’s Clothes, the cozy independent clothing shop that has been a staple on the James North strip for 8 whole years, posted a video to their Instagram feed announcing that the 150 James Street North storefront will be officially and permanently closing in March.
The announcement points to a key reason for the closure being the drastic changes in the retail landscape; likely a reference to the overwhelming continued rise of e-commerce over brick & mortar ventures.
The intense outpouring of love, support, heartbreak, and well-wishes on social media from regular patrons and fellow local businesses has been absolutely massive since the announcement; an unmistakable sign of just how meant O’s Clothes has meant to the people of Hamilton.

Originally set up in the tiny space at James North and Cannon now occupied by Smalls Coffee, O’s Clothes later moved into larger digs just around the corner, where it has remained to this day selling its keenly curated selection of clothing and unique accessories.
O’s Clothes was also known for carrying designs by local artists as well as Hamilton-specific apparel, including the famous #HamOnt shirts featuring the unmistakable graphic of a cartoon cooked ham, and the branded Roma Pizza crewneck tees as well.
In the weeks leading up to the forthcoming closure, O’s Clothes will be offering tons of major sales and clearance discounts, including a huge 50% discount on all clothing beginning now. Head down soon for one last shopping trip and a final farewell to this Hamilton icon!
O’s Clothes is located at 150 James Street North and remains open until March 2020.
