“Speeding is speeding:” Hamilton launches road safety education campaign

‘Speeding is speeding.’

That messaging leads a new education campaign launched this month by the City of Hamilton and the Hamilton Police, targeting fast drivers and those prone to speeding on the roads.

“Throughout March, the City and Hamilton Police will be targeting motorists driving over the speed limit with a familiar education campaign: There’s no such thing as speeding a little – speeding is speeding,” reads a release from the city.

The campaign marks a piece of the city’s ongoing Vision Zero efforts, with the ultimate goal of achieving zero fatalities or serious injuries as a result of roadway accidents.

Excessive speeding is known to be one of the largest contributors to the cause and severity of collisions, and these education efforts will hopefully play a role in reducing the amount of speeding among drivers in Hamilton.

The city and the Hamilton Police are encouraging local motorists to avoid speeding by a number of means, including ensuring you give yourself plenty of time to get to a destination, paying close attention to the speedometer, exercising overall greater caution while driving (especially at night), slowing down for older pedestrians, and staying alert and mindful on the road.
