VIDEO: Cyclist swipes Amazon package from a porch in Hamilton’s East End

On December 9th, a member of Hamilton’s subreddit posted surveillance video footage of a man poaching an Amazon package from a porch in the East end of Hamilton.

According to the post, the package had been delivered less than three minutes prior to the theft. The Reddit poster claims the Amazon driver left the package on the porch without knocking. The package’s recipient wasn’t notified about the delivery until some time after it had already been stolen.

The cyclist can be seen in the video biking down a sidewalk in the Ottawa/Cannon area. He wears a navy green winter coat, black pants, and white sneakers. He also has a beige-green duffel bag slung over his shoulder.

East End Porch Pirate – Amazon Package didn’t last 3 minutes from Hamilton

As he cruises along, he spots the package left unattended on a porch just steps away from the sidewalk. You can see him slow down as he stares at the distinctive Amazon packaging. His gaze sticks to the box even after he’s already passed the porch. Finally, he stops and circles back for a closer look.

After getting a better look at the package from the sidewalk, he circles back again to a nearby shed, rummages around for a few seconds, and then emerges with a purple children’s jacket. He then comes back to the porch and tucks the package into the children’s jacket, cradles it like it’s a toddler, and quickly walks back to his bike before speeding off.

As of the time of this article, Hamilton Police Services have not yet commented on the incident.
