It seems that not even a pandemic can stop some local motorists from getting in on some foolish joy-riding time.
A video captured by Andrew Collins and shared to Twitter depicts a 20-something Hamilton driver drifting around a vacant parking lot outside of the Canadian Tire on Queenston Road in Stoney Creek.
.@HamiltonPolice have arrested a male in his 20s for dangerous driving after they were called for a male drifting around a parking lot overnight on Queenston Rd. When police arrived, the male continued to “drift” around police for upwards of ten minutes #HamOnt pic.twitter.com/RyK3ByUTM7

Even after Hamilton Police were called and arrived at the scene, the driver inexplicably continued to coast around the parking lot, circling around the police cruisers for a solid ten minutes before police were eventually able to make an arrest.
Responses to Collins’ video on Twitter also indicate that this is hardly a one-off occurrence, even during a time of social distancing.
“I live in the area. Hear cars racing and speeding all the time,” remarked Twitter user Anthony Falcao.
“When I was at the FreshCo in the same lot a week and a half ago (mid pandemic) these idiots were still having their car-meet in the middle of the day, obviously no social distancing involved including a car with 4 or 5 people in it,” added Twitter user Matt LeBoeuf.
Sure, we’re all going a little stir-crazy while we’re cooped up inside and practicing social distancing. But activities like this aren’t exactly the smartest way of fighting off the homebound blues.
