Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.

Art Crawl

When: Friday January 10th, 2020
Where: James St. N
Admission: Free

On the second Friday of every month, Hamilton’s arts and culture hub, James Street North, is transformed by a decade-old phenomenon called Art Crawl. It’s a one-stop shop to experience the city’s art, music, and food scenes, while shopping local, people-watching, and taking in some city sights all at once.

2000’s Trivia Night

When: Saturday January 11th, 2020 from 7 pm – 10 pm
Where: Collective Arts Brewing
Admission: $10. Buy tickets here.

You better T9 all your friends because Trivia Night at the Collective Arts Brewing is back – 2000’s style. So dust off that old Motorola Razr, load up your iPod Nano with your favourite Avril tracks, and maybe rewatch The OC for good measure.

Hamilton Bulldogs vs. Sarnia Sting

When: Saturday January 11th, 2020 at 4 pm
Where: FirstOntario Centre
Admission: Prices vary. Buy tickets here.

Come out to support the Hamilton Bulldogs at our very own FirstOntario Centre.

You Better Drag!

When: Saturday January 11th, 2020 at 10 pm
Where: Sous Bas
Admission: $5 at the door.

This bi-monthly event gives first-time and amateur performers an opportunity to experiment with the art of drag in a fun, supportive, and awesomely low pressure environment – plus there’s always some sweet return performers back with new tricks up their sleeve and ready to up the ante!!

Rainbow Punk

When: Sunday January 29th, 2020 from 11 am – 2:30 pm
Where: Workers Arts & Heritage Centre
Admission: Free. Register here.

A talk, pizza lunch, and music making workshop for youth with non-binary punk mentors!

Tree Walks

When: Sunday January 29th, 2020 from 11:30 am – 2:30 pm
Where: The Mustard Seed
Admission: Pay what you can

Meet them around the parking lot of the Mustard Seed. They will discuss identifying different tree species, their different appearances as they age, and talk about their health. They will bring some kind of tree tea – you bring a cup! They will also talk about sustainable harvest practices (like tree parts that are wonderful for baths or tea which you can gather from fallen branches after storms or from your neighbour’s trimmings) and using the inner bark of certain trees as food and medicine.

There’s plenty to do and see this weekend, Hamilton. Get on out there and experience something new!

What will you be doing this weekend? Are you attending any of these events? Let us know in the comments.
