Halton police are investigating golf cart joyriders in Burlington

While golf courses have only just reopened during the most recent lockdown, some Burlington locals took golf carts out for a late night joyride.
Halton police are investigating after some young adults and teens damaged about $5,000 and $10,000 worth of property at a Burlington golf course early Tuesday morning.

According to local police, about 10 to 12 suspects cut a lock to access golf carts at the Lowville Golf Course at about 1:25 am.
Then, the group allegedly recklessly drove the golf carts across the lawn and on roads close to the course on Britannia Road.
The vandals cut the power to the parking lot and damaged some of the course’s greens by performing donuts on those surfaces, said Lowville Golf Club Associate Golf Professional Ken Ward.
Police were called to the course and found 21 golf carts scattered across the golf course, in ditches, and along the roadway.
A similar incident happened at the course back in April and course management have hired overnight security as a result.
