Mandarin Restaurant opens fast service location in Burlington

All-you-can-eat buffet restaurant Mandarin has taken a step into providing fast service meal options with a new M2GO location in Burlington.
The famous Chinese food restaurant and buffet is well known in the GTA for offering a huge variety of all-you-can-eat options and is often the backdrop to birthday parties and other family events.
Although many of the Mandarin Restaurant locations offer take-out and delivery, the new Mandarin To-Go (M2GO) location focuses strictly on fast service and take-out with a small dining room for a pared back dine-in experience.
Right now, the new location at Appleby Line and Fairview Street is strictly offering curbside pick-up and delivery only during the COVID-19 restrictions.
But, the small restaurant is a shift away from the buffet model that has made Mandarin so famous. All Mandarin locations have been closed during the pandemic with some offering take-out and delivery.
The new M2GO location could be a timely pivot for the all-you-can-eat buffet chain with the future of that type of restaurant in question post-coronavirus.
M2GO still offers many of the Chinese dishes that are common at the buffets with a select number of new noodle meals.
According to the M2GO by Mandarin website, the quick service locations are designed to “better serve its customer’s fast-paced lifestyle and to satisfy the expanding customer base.”
The first location of M2GO opened in 2017 at York University in Toronto. Amid the uncertainty of how many restaurants could bounce back as things reopen, it’s very possible we could see more all-you-can-eat restaurants move into the quick service game.
