The Sunshine Doughnut Company in Burlington was vandalized over the weekend

Burlington’s premier donut bakery, The Sunshine Doughnut Company, was vandalized by teens who also attempted to break into the store and its storage unit on Saturday night.

Images posted on Instagram taken from Sunshine Doughnuts’ CCTV camera show a group of teens smearing food all over the front of the store as well as trying to break in through the front door.

In a statement, the owners asked for help from the community in trying to identify the teens involved in the incident.

“With this, I sincerely ask you, our community and our friends, to once again, to help us find these kids. I am saddened that their energy was spent trying to break into our business when all that energy could be used for good — especially during times where we need to help each other the most.”

This is not the first time that Sunshine Doughnuts has been affected by vandals. According to the statement, the store has a regular issue with people leaving graffiti and destroying other parts of their property.

Sunshine Doughnuts is most recognizable by the lake in Burlington for the large, iconic donut sculpture on top of the store. Their menu includes specialty donuts and has become a staple for locals with a sweet tooth.

Anyone with potential information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact the store.

Sunshine Doughnuts remains open during the recent health pandemic and are giving updates via Instagram. So, it might not be a bad idea to make their donuts a priority for your snack list during a time of social distancing and staying home.
