Hamilton saw 5 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 over the weekend, according to the city’s most recent update on the local status of the virus.
The news comes after a brief period of limited availability for new local statistics on COVID-19, as the city transitioned its tracking to the Ministry of Health’s new case and contact management system, which impacted new information between August 20th and 24th.
Now that the system update is complete, the new overall total case number for Hamilton is up to 973; an increase of 5 new confirmed cases since Friday.
The city’s total number of COVID-related deaths remains at 45; a number that has remained unchanged for the last few weeks. There are also currently no reported institutional outbreaks of the virus.

The last reported number of total remaining active cases of COVID-19 is 50, which was reported last Friday. Notably, 20 per cent of the city’s confirmed cases within the last 10 days have been people between the ages of 20 and 29, indicating an ongoing trend for new COVID-19 infections among the city’s young adult residents.
Locals are reminded to be diligent about the usual COVID-19 health & safety measures, such as maintaining proper physical distancing from others, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces, staying home whenever possible, and frequently washing your hands with soap or hand sanitizer.
