A Hamilton tech company has developed an app to help the city fight COVID-19

In an inventive effort to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in Hamilton, a local tech company has developed a new app and website that will help Hamilton’s health authorities proactively gather information from the community.

The company, Lumedi Inc., has partnered with the Hamilton Academy of Medicine to launch Community Watch, a free website and companion app that Hamiltonians can add their own data to daily in order to help health officials track local trends amid the ongoing spread of the novel coronavirus.

How does it work? Hamiltonians can complete a 30-second survey once a day through the Community Watch app or website, which will immediately help provide important community data and proactively identify trends across the city.

The survey asks basic questions about demographics and employment situations, and asks participants to identify and report any potential COVID-19 symptoms on a daily basis.

The data collected through the app and website will be monitored by the Hamilton Academy of Medicine as well as the city’s medical officer of health, so local health officials can take proactive steps and measures to help fight this persistent disease.

Community Watch can be accessed via their website, or by downloading the mobile app on Google Play or the Apple App Store.
