A Taste of Africa fundraising event this Friday

Hamilton is one of the most giving cities out there. We look out for our own, help where we can, and always come together in the face of challenges. This Friday, let’s help our fellow Hamiltonian Dora Anie fundraise for Schools of Dreams through her event ‘A Taste of Africa’.
Ms. Anie is the founder of Schools of Dreams, a Canadian-based organization devoted to building and renovating schools in Ghana. These schools, owned and operated by the government of Ghana, provide students with the support and sustainability needed to empower their educational journey.
Schools of Dreams exists to allow students in Ghana the opportunity to participate in the worldwide community. All students are capable of great things — Schools of Dreams operates to show their students they have a world of potential.
On Friday May 25, Schools of Dreams is hosting A Taste of Africa where guests will experience a buffet with dishes from around the African continent.
Some of the more unique dishes include jollof rice (a popular dish in West African cuisine), shito (a hot pepper based preparation used as a dark brown aromatic sauce originating from Ghana) and kenkey (a staple dish in Ghana, eastern Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, and western Benin that’s similar to sour dough dumplings). There’ll also be fried plantain (yum!), salmon, chicken and a dessert station!
This fundraising event’s proceeds will support the completion of their project in Akuffokrom, Ghana.
Taking on only one construction project at a time, Schools of Dreams believes it’s important to finish one job before taking on another. A Taste of Africa plays a huge role in their ability to fund their projects and complete them at a faster rate.
Let’s come together as a community this Friday and help Schools of Dreams get the funding they deserve. Let’s give the gift of education to some incredible children.
The event takes place at Michelangelo Banquet Centre, and doors open at 6 pm. Tickets are $60 and are available online.
