With this announcement also came the news that Amazon Canada will be further expanding by opening three additional facilities in Ontario in 2022 and 2023, including another robotics fulfillment centre in Ottawa, a fulfillment centre in Southwold, and a sort centre in Whitby.
Combined with the new Hamilton facility, these new Amazon centres in Ontario are expected to create a total of 4,500 new jobs.
“This new facility in Hamilton is the company’s most advanced facility in our network today, and it’s the 1,500 employees that really make this place spectacular,” said Vibhore Arora, Regional Director for Canada Customer Fulfillment at Amazon Canada.
“Robotics technology helps extend the reach and capability of our team in a manner that makes tasks easier and more efficient, and make our fulfillment centres safer and more collaborative.”
