BREAKING: Ontario tightens COVID-19 restrictions on restaurants, closes strip clubs

As new COVID-19 cases continue to anxiously accelerate across the province, the Ontario government has just announced tighter restrictions on restaurants and bars, as well as the ordered closure of all strip clubs.
The new restrictions, set to begin this Saturday at 12:01 am, will require restaurants, bars, and similar food & drink establishments to halt the sale of alcoholic beverages past 11 pm, and to close for service – takeout and delivery excepted – at 12 am at the latest.

Consumption of alcohol will be prohibited at food & drink businesses between 12 am and 9 am, and the earliest establishments will be able to reopen for in-person dining is 5 am.
These are measures intended to mitigate some community spread of COVID-19 within the province; particularly as social gatherings are shown to be a key source of transmission.
Additionally, the provincial government is ordering the closure of all strip clubs across the province; a noteworthy move after two documented outbreaks at strip clubs in Toronto, one of which left roughly 550 people at risk of potential COVID-19 exposure.
“As the number of cases have continued to rise, it is evident that despite the tremendous efforts of Ontarians, further action is required to prevent the spread of the virus,” said Ontario health minister Christine Elliott.
“On the advice of Ontario’s public health officials, we are moving forward with these measures to help keep Ontarians safe by limiting the potential for exposure in locations where the current risk of transmission is higher and to avoid future lockdowns.”
Today, Ontario reported 409 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province. This coming Tuesday, the provincial government is set to unveil its COVID-19 second wave plans.
