Cake & Loaf celebrates pride with rainbow themed treats

Cake & Loaf Bakery is back at it again with a collection of beautifully themed treats.
This June, the popular Hamilton bakery is promoting Rainbow Unicorn Month — a celebration of all things bright and magical, just in time for Pride.
Unicorns and rainbows have been infused into virtually all of their goods. Whether you’re craving pastries, cakes, confections, or a great drink, Cake & Loaf’s themed creations are both colourful and delicious.
To fit the rainbow unicorn theme, the bakers jazzed up their traditional treats and added brilliant pops of colour. Their raspberry pop tarts have been covered in rainbow sprinkles, their mini cheesecakes have gotten a funfetti makeover, and their brownies now have a secret rainbow surprise inside. For their classic vanilla bean sugar cookies, you can now choose from unicorn heads, unicorn poop, or beautiful rainbows.
They also brought back some favourites that fit the month’s theme. Their unicorn bars are a bakery staple, and their gummy bear cookies add fun, gooey, whimsy into traditional cookies.
The shelves of confections got the unicorn makeover as well, which now features unicorn chocolate bars, unicorn bark, unicorn marshmallows, and unicorn bits + bites. These pastel wonders are just waiting to be devoured by unicorn lovers everywhere.
If that wasn’t enough, you can enjoy your rainbows in liquid form with one of three themed drinks.
The white hot chocolate version of this drink is made from sky blue white chocolate, 35% Hewitt’s whip, raspberry drizzle, and topped with their custom rainbow sprinkle blend. They even include a rainbow-striped candy, acting as a rainbow floating over the clouds. The hot chocolate also comes in the form of a vanilla latte!
More of a cold drink fan? Try their expertly layered Rainbow Brite iced bevvie. This drink features orange syrup, house made lemonade, and house brewed berrilicious iced tea poured over ice. For garnish, the drink is topped with blueberries and a wedge of lime.
While we all love a collection of themed treats, Cake & Loaf still keeps the true message of pride at the forefront. The staff at Cake & Loaf are known to be progressive community supporters and fierce allies — famously creating the “Gayest Cake Ever” for Chris Farias and his fiancé, Jared last year.
This year, Cake & Loaf are selling t-shirts based on the words featured around the cake. Most importantly, the bakery will be donating the full proceeds from the t-shirts to The Queer and Trans Youth Collaboration. This Hamilton based group works to ensure that workplaces are both safe and affirming for LGBTQ+ youth.
