Collective Arts Brewing is screening the Star Wars Holiday Special

Some movies straddle a fine line of awful and legendary. These movies are often remembered for being so bad they’re actually good.

Local Hamilton mainstay Collective Arts Brewing has started to screen some of these cinematic gems during their monthly free event Dope Movie Night. For the month of December, fans of movies that are so-bad-they’re-good are going to be treated to a screening of the Star Wars Holiday Special at the brewery this Wednesday.

The Star Wars Holiday Special originally aired in 1978 as a supplement to the incredibly popular and iconic movies Star Wars: A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. The special essentially follows Chewbacca and Han Solo as they try to visit the Wookie home world to celebrate “Life Day.” They are chased by agents of the Empire looking for Rebels on the planet. The movie includes cameos of all major characters played by the original actors including Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and C-3PO.

This movie has developed a huge cult following due to its incredibly negative reception, and it is particularly memorable for the glowing white teeth of Chewbacca.

Naturally, that delicious Collective Arts beer will be available at the event for your sipping pleasure, in cans and on tap. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own snacks and blankets. Best of all, there is no admission fee!

The screening of the Star Wars Holiday Special at Collective Arts Brewery starts at 8:30 pm on December 18th. Interested people should RSVP here
