COVID-19 vaccine eligibility has widened just a touch more, with Hamilton residents ages 80 and up officially able to get their shots as of this coming Monday, March 15th.
The widening of eligibility coincides with Ontario’s launch of the online COVID-19 vaccine booking portal, with which Hamilton residents aged 80 or above will be able to book their appointments.
Hamilton’s COVID-19 vaccination program expands to include adults aged 80+ with the launch of the Provincial online booking portal.

As has been true for the full vaccine rollout so far, getting a jab will be strictly by appointment only; no clinics will be offering the shot to walk-ins.
This new age group joins a selection of Hamiltonians already eligible for their vaccine, including senior residents in older age groups, health care workers, employees and residents of the city’s shelter system, and Indigenous adults in higher risk settings.
Additionally, some locals between the ages of 60 and 64 in good health may have the chance to get the AstraZeneca vaccine through a province-wide pilot program that sees some primary care physicians offering the shot to eligible patients in that age group.
To date, Hamilton has fully vaccinated over 16,000 residents, and given at least the first of two shots to over 53,000 in total.
