Cumbrae’s Butcher in Dundas will be taking over former Horn of Plenty

Popular Dundas butcher shop Cumbrae’s is making a big move.

Earlier this year, longstanding Downtown Dundas grocer The Horn of Plenty closed its doors in its heritage building at 24 King Street West after 42 years in business.

The building was purchased by Stephen Alexander, owner of Cumbrae’s Butcher Shop which also happens to be right next door to the former Horn of Plenty.

Though the timeline is still uncertain, a sign has gone up at 24 King Street West promising an expansion of Cumbrae’s coming soon, with plans for a robust butcher market with fresh cuts of quality meats, prepared and frozen foods, as well as pantry items and specialty food.

The sign also indicates that the new Cumbrae’s space will feature a hot counter and an eat-in area; something that’s never been possible at their current tiny corner shop next door.

What’s not yet clear is whether this new space will be a replacement to the current Cumbrae’s, or if the butcher will continue operating both storefronts in tandem.

Still, with more details still to come, anticipation is already high for this forthcoming addition to Downtown Dundas!
