Employee at No Frills on the Hamilton Mountain tests positive for COVID-19

An employee at the grocery store Frank’s No Frills on the Hamilton Mountain has been found to test positive for COVID-19, according to a recent update from the supermarket chain’s parent company.

The company received official notification Thursday morning from the No Frills location at 675 Rymal Road East, which sits at corner of Rymal and Upper Sherman. The confirmed positive case has since been listed on the Loblaw Companies Limited online COVID-19 tracker.

According to the public record of the confirmed case, the last day the employee worked in store was August 15th, and they have since been self-isolating. The store has otherwise remained open to the public for shopping as usual.

Grocery stores in Hamilton have become a noteworthy spot for new cases of COVID-19 among frontline essential workers.

This isn’t even the first confirmed COVID-19 case at this particular No Frills location. In the middle of April, Frank’s No Frills saw its first employee test positive for the coronavirus, which was followed by a deep cleaning of the store and self-isolation by the positive employee.

Other COVID-19 cases have been found in local grocery stores such as FreshCo and Metro, both at Upper Gage and Fennell; and Fortinos in Ancaster, which was confirmed just a few days ago.
