“Fun” Raiser for Mexico this Friday

Hamilton is known for its grit, hard work, and compassion for the local community. As Hamiltonians, we strive to build each other up and support those when they’re down. On Friday, May 11, The Stone Soup Project is asking the community to spread their compassion south of the border and come together for their Cinco de Mayo “Fun” Raiser for Mexico.

The Stone Soup Project is putting on a Friday night fiesta to support initiatives in communities around Ensenada, a port city on the Pacific coast.

Many of those living in the area are agricultural field workers, struggling to provide basic needs for their families. All of the net proceeds for this event will fund children and seniors’ feeding programs, as well as other projects that focus on poverty alleviation.

This fantastic event will be held at Shawn & Ed Brewing Company. Entertainment will be provided by Burlington’s own classic rock and blues band, Crosstown Traffic.

The Other Bird, owner of The Mule and Burro restaurants, will be serving up delicious Mexican fare.

There’ll be plenty of games to play and prizes to be won, so make sure you bring your wallet and support a great cause.

Cinco de Mayo “Fun” Raiser For Mexico starts at 7pm and goes until 10pm. Tickets are only $51.75 — a steal for a night of food, fun, and charity. Tickets are available online.

Think of going to the event? What are some of your favourite charities to support? Let us know in the comments.
