Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB) has decided to not fly rainbow Pride flags outside its school this June.
They are the second school board in the area, including the Halton Catholic District School Board, to decide against the flags during Pride month.
We are calling on the @HWCDSB to reconsider its decision to not fly the Pride Flag.

The controversial news comes after many Catholic school boards in Ontario including Niagara, Toronto, Ottawa, Waterloo, Durham, Wellington, and Dufferin-Peel voted to do the opposite in recent weeks.
In a report filed by CBC Hamilton, HWCDSB chair Pat Daly said that the decision doesn’t mean the school board is against LGBTQIA communities.
According to Daly, the board has a policy where the administrative buildings and schools only fly the Canadian flag as a sign of unity.
While schools in the HWCDSB communities will continue with the national flag, schools the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) will fly the Pride flag for the first time ever during June at every school in the public board.
The HWDSB has said that students will also be learning about gender and sexual orientation in age appropriate ways.
