Catholic school boards around Ontario are hitting the picket lines to start off a busy week of rotating strikes around the province.
President of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association, Liz Stuart, says there are around 45,000 teachers picketing around the province.
The union says that they are frustrated with the lack of progress in contract negotiations with the provincial government.

Class-size increases and the introduction of e-learning in high schools remain as the major sticking points for the union. However, Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce says compensation is the main barrier.
Today’s strike follows the one-day strike in public high schools last week. Each union is negotiating the same issues with the government.
Last week, Lecce announced that the province will provide compensation towards childcare costs for parents during the job action and school closures.
Families can apply for amounts from $25 to $60 per day for children under 12.
