With Hamilton still sitting in the red zone and teetering on the edge of a fuller lockdown, the city is expected to be one of the next in line to receive doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine; even as soon as next week.
While it would certainly not be a mass rollout of the vaccine to the general population, Hamilton could nonetheless be one of the first cities on Ontario to receive doses in order to immunize some priority groups such as frontline healthcare workers.
#HamOnt will likely be one of the first cities to get the COVID-19 vaccine, but it probably be widespread until Aprilhttps://t.co/gmtcSieKpj

Dr. Elizabeth Richardson, Hamilton’s medical officer of health, expects that the city will be further up in line to receive doses of the COVID-19 vaccine due to the fact that the city is currently in the COVID-19 red zone. That said, specific details of a local strategy for the vaccine are still unknown.
Though a batch of doses landed in Hamilton at the John C. Munro Airport earlier this week, those doses were sent rapidly on their way to Toronto and Ottawa with none immediately staying here in the city.
Ontario as a whole is expected to receive approximately 85,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine prior to the end of 2020, with another 2.4 million doses to come in the first three months of 2021.
From there, further doses will become more widely available to the general public later in 2021, starting in April.
