Following a recent investigation by the City of Hamilton, three nurses working for public health have been disciplined for inappropriately administering COVID-19 vaccines to individuals currently outside of vaccine priority guidelines.
The investigation began on March 5th following reports that the three nurses in question – who were working in one of Hamilton’s COVID-19 vaccine clinics – administered up to 7 total vaccine doses to non-priority individuals related to one of the nurses.
A recent investigation by the City of Hamilton into allegations of improper vaccine distribution at one of its pop-up clinics has resulted in three nurses in public health receiving disciplinary action.

A release from the city explains that officials have taken the appropriate disciplinary action for the employees involved, including action that has resulted in one of the employees no longer working for the city.
Names of the individuals involved will not be made public.
“The City remains committed to ensuring its vaccine clinics operate in a way that is fair, transparent, and in line with our approach to prioritize those most vulnerable to the disease – in accordance with the Province of Ontario’s Vaccine Prioritization Framework,” notes Dr. Elizabeth Richardson, Hamilton’s medical officer of health.
“Any actions that impact the vaccine’s eligibility criteria will be taken seriously and dealt with accordingly.”
