Hamilton-based singer-songwriter Terra Lightfoot just dropped her brand-new album, Consider the Speed, and it’s available for purchase in physical copy on CD and vinyl as well as for download on all streaming platforms.
Consider the Speed is Lightfoot’s fourth studio album, and her first set of original songs in three years, born of a rapid writing frenzy when the soulful singer-songwriter made a trip to Nashville for inspiration.
The album was later recorded at the legendary Royal Studios in Memphis, Tennessee in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Jay Newland and Grammy-winning engineer Lawrence ‘Boo’ Mitchell; an album Lightfoot considers “her most soulful, soul-baring, soul-searching record to date.”
Born in Waterdown and a graduate of McMaster University, Lightfoot began her music career as a member of local country-folk music group The Dinner Belles, and released her first solo studio album in 2011 through local indie music label Sonic Unyon Records.
Her acclaimed 2017 studio album, New Mistakes, was a 2018 Juno Award nominee for Adult Alternative Album of the Year, and made the longlist for the 2018 Polaris Music Prize.
Consider the Speed is available now through Hamilton’s Sonic Unyon Records on CD, vinyl, and all major streaming platforms.
