Nominations for the 2023 JUNO Awards have been freshly announced, and Hamilton’s beloved rockers Arkells has once again earned a nod.
The Max Kerman-fronted band has been nominated for Group of the Year alongside other prominent Canadian bands like Arcade Fire, Billy Talent, Metric, and The Reklaws.

Of course, the Arkells are no stranger to the JUNO Awards, or even this specific category: including this year’s nod, they’ve been nominated for Group of the Year a whopping seven times since 2012, winning the award five of those times.
Whether they’ll take away a sixth statue at the 2023 JUNOs remains to be seen; but given the enduring popularity for these Hamilton-proud icons, a win on awards night is hardly a far-fetched idea.
Most recently, Arkells earned widespread praise for their latest album Blink Twice, which was released in Fall 2022 as a follow-up to 2021’s successful record Blink Once.
