Hamilton’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout now open to residents ages 12 and up

Following Health Canada’s approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for use in individuals aged 12 and up, Hamilton’s vaccination program has further expanded to include residents in those age groups.

As of this past Sunday, youth in Hamilton who are ages 12 and over at the time of vaccination are eligible to book an appointment to specifically receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine at one of the city’s large-scale vaccine clinics.

To book an appointment, eligible residents can use the province’s online vaccine booking portal, or call Hamilton’s public health hotline at 905-974-9848, option 7.

The city encourages as many people as possible to book online, as the phone line is often managing a high volume of calls and getting through to book an appointment may be more difficult.

To date, over half of Hamilton’s adults ages 18 and up have received at least their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, with the city reporting an upwards of 52.2 per cent as of this past Saturday.
