Hamilton’s McMaster University has just confirmed its third COVID-19 case on campus since the start of the fall semester, according to a release on the school’s website.
This new confirmed case was found in a student at the university, who had spent time in McMaster’s psychology building for a short while last week. The student’s last day physically present on campus prior to receiving the positive test result was September 24th.

McMaster was notified of the positive test on Wednesday, and followed up with a thorough cleaning of the school’s psychology building out of an abundance of caution. The university says that the positive student followed all of the school’s health & safety protocols while present on campus.
The university is currently in contact with local public health – with whom McMaster developed its existing COVID-19 safety protocols – regarding next steps.
“Any contact tracing required is being managed by public health authorities,” reads the statement from McMaster. “They will be directly contacting anyone who would be part of the tracing for this case.”
This case follows two separate confirmed cases at McMaster within the last 4 weeks: one involving a graduate student, the other involving an employee of the university.
