New app lets Hamilton food spots sell their surplus stock for cheap

A local coffee shop’s leftover scones. Some day-old donuts. Local produce. End-of-day slices from the pizzeria down the road.

These are just a handful of possible surprises made available through Too Good to Go: a popular app that has recently added Hamilton to its network of food spots looking to reduce food waste and sell off surplus stock for a considerable discount.

The app, which can be downloaded for free to your smart phone, offers up a list of participating restaurants, takeout spots, cafes, and more in your area who regularly offer leftover food and products through the app for as much as 60 to 70 per cent off the normal price.

Popular spots like Vintage Coffee, Momoco Donuts, Oko Bagels, Ottawa Market, Royal Pizza & Wings, Taste of Lagos, The Hearty Hooligan, and many others are already on board, offering up surprise bags with everything from baked goods to fruits & vegetables at a fraction of the cost to locals who claim them with the app.

Originally founded in Denmark and making a splash worldwide, Too Good to Go is a unique and attractive way of letting locals get deals on great food, helping small businesses sell extra stock, and playing a role in reducing food waste.

Give it a try and see what surprise treats you might get your hands on! Too Good to Go can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.
