Ontario reports lowest number of daily confirmed COVID-19 cases since March

In a spot of news worth celebrating, the province of Ontario has reported its daily number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases, and that number is the lowest it has been since March.

Following a full week where new COVID-19 cases hovered just above and below 100 recorded per day, the province is reporting a significant dip in confirmed cases for Tuesday, August 11th with just 33 new cases reported today; an increase of 0.1 per cent.

The last time Ontario saw new daily case numbers this low was back on March 17th and 18th, for which the province reported 32 and 38 new daily cases respectively. Just yesterday, Ontario reported 115 new daily cases.

Ontario’s minister of health Christine Elliott also notes that Tuesday’s report sees another 75 province-wide cases considered resolved, indicating a decline in the number of known active cases.

These positive trends indicate a strong impact from the recommended health & safety guidelines, including the wearing of masks and face coverings in enclosed public spaces, maintaining a physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently washing hands with soap or hand sanitizer, and only socializing closely with those inside your 10-person social circle.

It is imperative that Ontarians continue to adhere to these guidelines going forward to ensure case levels continue to remain stable; particularly as the province has entered Stage Three of its plan to reopen the economy.
