A popular East Hamilton spot for coffee, baked goods, sandwiches, and more has announced that it is permanently closing its doors.
Emerald Coffee Co. first opened in 2018, bringing high quality coffee, tea, and espresso beverages as well as breakfast and lunch bites to Barton Village and quickly earning itself a local following.
A few years and some ownership changes later, the café had remained a fixture of Barton Street until a sudden closure at the beginning of November that was believed to be temporary for some maintenance work.
However, Emerald Coffee has since shared the sad news that the café will not be reopening after all.
“This decision was not made lightly, and I have explored every possible avenue to continue serving you,” wrote Emerald Coffee’s ownership on Instagram.
“Please know that this decision was not a reflection of your loyalty or the value every ECC staff member placed on your support. We have cherished every interaction, every smile, and every conversation shared with you.”
