Protect Your Wealth: helping Hamiltonians find financial freedom

Working towards financial stability can be stressful and overwhelming at the best of times. Today, during an unprecedented year that has not been the ‘best of times’ for countless Hamiltonians, many people might be feeling that their personal finances are more uncertain than ever before.
For award-winning wealth advisor Parvesh Benning – founder and President of Hamilton-based financial planning and insurance firm Protect Your Wealth – COVID-19 has affected the way people view their financial futures.
“I believe the pandemic has forced many to look at their financial wellbeing,” explains Benning. “Do you have an up-to-date will in place? Access to an emergency fund? Are your investments properly aligned with your risk tolerance and goals? Are you adequately insured in case of sickness or death?”
These are all questions that many are now looking at from a new perspective, and Protect Your Wealth endeavours to put Hamilton residents at ease and on the path to financial freedom, even – or perhaps, especially – in the face of a devastating global pandemic.
Established in Hamilton in 2007, Protect Your Wealth currently has over 1,200 clients. They include individuals and families looking to safeguard their personal wealth and local business owners who want to ensure the success of their enterprises.
Although the changes brought on by COVID-19 have required Benning to transition his operations online, he maintains a strong and personal connection with his clients via email and Zoom meetings.
“My goal has always been to give each client the right advice for their financial needs and goals,” says Benning. “In that respect, nothing has been changed by the pandemic.”
Quality client relationships have been a Protect Your Wealth cornerstone since the beginning. According to Benning, many of his clients have been with the firm for years because they value and benefit from the customized solutions that he prepares for them.
This emphasis on customer service was what inspired Benning to found Protect Your Wealth after over 10 years of working for one of Canada’s ‘Big Six’ banks, where goals were a little different.
“While at the bank, I earned multiple top sales advisor awards. Ironically, the issue I had at the bank was that it was very sales driven. Relationships were secondary,” explains Benning.
“While I am proud that I was able to help families and business owners, something was missing. It was essentially ‘fast food planning,’ where the next order was in line waiting to be processed.”
Benning’s desire to offer more has certainly paid off. Thirteen years after its inception, Protect Your Wealth is going strong. Whether it’s helping young families accomplish their dreams of homeownership or assisting those approaching retirement with their estate planning goals, Protect Your Wealth makes a positive difference in the future financial security of many Hamiltonians.
“Helping people from all backgrounds and stages of life has been extremely rewarding,” Benning says.
