RBC Canadian Open to take place in Hamilton next year

Big changes are coming to the RBC Canadian Open next year.

Firstly, the event will take place in early June instead of late July. This change in dates will allow many of the PGA Tour’s top players to compete in the tournament.

For the last ten years, the Canadian Open has been held the week after the British Open. Many players were unable to compete in the Canadian tournament due to the recovery period post-British Open.

Second, Golf Canada has announced that next year’s overall purse will be US$7.6 million. The pool of prize money available to players next year will increase by US$1.2 million, as opposed to this year’s US$6.4 million.

Next year’s event will take place June 6-9 at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club.

The Canadian Open is the third oldest tournament on the PGA Tour, following behind the British and U.S. Opens. Next year’s edition will be the 110th time the tournament is held.
