Someone stole the Portuguese rooster from O Cantinho in Hamilton

A mystery Hamiltonian has run afoul (or should I say, a-fowl) of respecting the city’s small businesses after stealing the eye-catching metal rooster from outside of O Cantinho Churrasqueira & Café on Barton Street.
A hidden gem in Hamilton serving up authentic Portuguese dishes and BBQ chicken, O Cantinho is a longstanding food spot near Barton General Hospital. The restaurant is unmissable from the street, in part due to the large, multicoloured decorative rooster that sits – or used to sit – prominently outside the O Cantinho’s Barton-facing façade.
In a Facebook post yesterday, O Cantinho shared the news of the curious theft, spawning an outpouring of community support in the form of comments, likes, and shares attempting to spread the word and, hopefully, return the majestic metal rooster to its rightful owners.
“Today is a sad day at O Cantinho,” said the restaurant’s owners in their Facebook post, later adding that they are offering a reward to anyone who is able to track down and return the beloved rooster.
As to why anyone would even think to swipe such an odd item, many speculate that the culprit may have taken it to sell as scrap metal and make a quick buck. Regardless, our fingers are crossed that the beloved O Cantinho rooster finds its way back home soon!
