The Hamilton sign is a massive hit

An instant landmark.
Yesterday’s lighting of the city’s new sign drew in a huge crowd as well as a wave of pride that’s rippled through the online community. A dazzling light show commenced at 9 pm whereafter Hamiltonians were free to climb into the hollowed out letters.
The sign is 20 metres long and stands just over 2 metres tall, complete with LED lighting that is fully programmable.
While the sign did come with a $300,000 price tag, it didn’t cost city residents a penny to build or install. Twelve private donations valued at $25,000 funded the entire project.
During mayor Fred Eisenberger’s ceremonial speech, he proudly stated that operation of the sign would cost the city a mere $1.50 per day. Now that’s what I call efficiency!
