Shortly after the Hamilton Spectator closed and sold its iconic Frid Street facility downtown, the newspaper has announced that it will be making the move into new digs on the Hamilton Mountain instead.
By the end of 2020, The Spec intends to move into a new, smaller facility in Stoney Creek at 211 Pritchard Road, accessible by the Lincoln Alexander Parkway and Red Hill Valley Parkway.

This announcement came quickly after the Spectator’s former building and land at 44 Frid Street, where the newspaper has been since 1976, was sold for $25.5 million to McMaster Innovation Park (MIP).
MIP followed with their own announcement shortly after that they would be using the former Hamilton Spectator building as an expansion of the Innovation Park itself, complete with some early design concepts for the expanded hub released.
