These two Hamilton restaurants are providing free meals to HSR drivers

Two of Hamilton’s most popular restaurants are joining forces to feed the city’s essential workers still out on the frontlines during COVID-19.
Cozy taco joint Mezcal and comfort food-forward pub One Duke, steps from each other on James Street South, will both be offering complimentary meals to HSR bus operators today, Tuesday April 21st, as those workers continue to put themselves at daily risk providing an essential service to Hamiltonians who still need access to public transit.

“This week we would like to invite HSR bus drivers to come by One Duke Restaurant & Mezcal between 3 pm – 8 pm and say hello… so we can thank you with a complimentary bite on us,” said One Duke and Mezcal on their social media.
But the generous gesture doesn’t stop there; the two restaurants will continue the initiative on a weekly basis, with each week dedicated to feeding a different group of Hamilton’s frontline essential workers still putting their health at risk each day to provide services to the public during this pandemic.
Locals are invited to suggest different groups of essential workers for the initiative, from healthcare professionals to grocery store employees and beyond.
“If there is a group you would like to recognize, let us know. It is us against it and we would like to ensure that the people out there keeping our world in order are taken care of.”
